Treadmill Kinematics
During the week of June 25, 2012, Treadmill Kinematics completed final sessions of the ISS in-flight experiment for two ISS crewmembers. Of the 8 crewmembers who have consented to participate, six have now completed their sessions of the Treadmill Kinematics experiment. The final 2 crewmembers are scheduled to complete their participation by January, 2013. Treadmill Kinematics is a JSC/Human Research Program funded ISS flight experiment that is managed by Steve Hing of the Flight Implementation Branch within the Space Bioscience Division. Treadmill Kinematics is an exercise experiment using the on-board T2 treadmill. The purpose of the experiment is to quantitatively assess astronaut exercise biomechanics in microgravity compared to the same exercise on the ground to determine any differences with the goal of improving exercise benefits in space.
